Public Sector Mobile Portals

Possibly the most exciting new form of communication that can
be delivered via a citizen’s mobile device is real-time data

Information Services

SNT Consulting not only identifies the information sets with integrity and value that can be delivered to the public but also brings 3rd party suppliers and knowledge of available information sets elsewhere in the public sector.

This information needs to then be presented in a structure which can be accessed by mobile users and forms the key initial stage to engage the public and begin the process of delivering on expectations.

Transport information could include:

  • CCTV cameras
  • Live information on roadwork’s and traffic incidents
  • Journey Times
  • Live train arrivals, departures and expected delays
  • Live bus timetables
  • Car park availability and costs

Search

Enabling quick and efficient contact with the relevant public organisations is essential and can be optimised through search techniques and partnerships. In addition the council can deliver
value through giving access to relevant local and entertainment information:

Information could include:

  • Tourist attractions
  • Stadium / Events
..and a range of local amenities such as
hospitals, shopping centres, petrol stations, cash machines and post offices.

Entertainment information could include:

  • Nightclubs
  • Bar locations and venue information
  • Theatre locations, description of productions currently running and times.
  • Cinema listings

Interactive Services

2nd Generation Mobile or interactive services deliver just that… interaction. Information is delivered in such formats and at such times, to enable users to utilise this data whilst on the move and enable their work / responses to be captured remotely.

Emergency Services

Solutions can now deliver mobile access to real time CCTV footage, an essential requirement for today’s Emergency Services. But how do you deliver on multiple different devices, with security, and ensure the integrity of monitoring ? In addition, once the public sees the Local Authority as a provider of mobile services and are engaged, citizen centric services can be deployed which cover such diverse areas as disaster recovery and emergency communications.

Education

Efficient usage of mobile opens both new channels and cost effective methods of communication. From enabling the facility to send SMS alerts to parents in the event pupils are unwell, or playing truant, through to enabling school children access to
remote learning.

Streetscene

Enabling access and delivery of relevant information to the public, produces large efficiency gains. Examples would include sending a text to citizens informing them when their bins are being emptied
or enabling the public to communicate with the council regarding issues such as environmental crime, including fly tipping, noise pollution, graffiti, and pollution prevention.

Health

From Telehealth through to Telecare, the savings that can be delivered through intelligent usage of mobile technology probably dwarf all other savings combined. Again SNT can enable Local Authorities to make informed decisions in relation to the services available.

Payment and billing services

Paperless bills, payments and statements through SMS alerts reduce back office procedures and resources through bad debt reduction and provide an opportunity to coordinate services more directly around the needs of citizens. In addition mobile coupon creation, delivery and redemption of barcodes to mobile phones have been introduced within the entertainment and sport industry over the last few years. Removing the need for physical documentation, e ticketing and SMS alerts will become the primary channel for transactional and information services.
